Escape Montclair Chef Bryan Gregg Named New Jersey Top Seafood Chef at the 2015 Jersey Seafood Challenge and will Represent the Garden State at the Great American Seafood Cook-Off in New Orleans.
MONTCLAIR, NJ (June 29, 2015) – Bryan Gregg, Chef and Owner of Escape Montclair and a leader in the New Jersey local food movement, was crowned the winner of the 2015 Jersey Seafood Challenge held at Viking Village in Barnegat Light last week. The Jersey-centric winning dish was created by Chef Gregg specifically for the challenge - Barnegat Light Scallops, Creamless Creamed Corn and Jersey Chanterelles.
Chef Gregg will be New Jersey’s official representative at the Great American Seafood Cook-Off in New Orleans on August 8. “Congratulations to Chef Gregg who will proudly represent our state at the national competition and demonstrate to the country that New Jersey’s seafood and the chefs that prepare it are top notch,” said New Jersey Assistant Secretary of Agriculture Alfred Murray.
The Great American Seafood Cook-Off is limited to 20 chefs with the champion being named King or Queen of American Seafood. The cook-off is televised by the Food Network and is part of the Louisiana Foodservice Expo.
“It means so much to me to have the opportunity to represent New Jersey in New Orleans at the national competition,” said Chef Bryan Gregg. “I feel confident that we’ll show people outside of Jersey what we can do in the kitchen. New Jersey is unlike any other state when it comes to the quality and variety of seafood and produce available to us,” continues Gregg.

Chef Bryan Gregg is a native of Pittsburgh and a graduate of the Pennsylvania Institute of Culinary Arts. Early in his career, Chef Gregg honed his skills at some of the most highly-regarded restaurants and with world-class chefs in New York and New Jersey. The crusader for local New Jersey food producers then had a chance to stage at multiple Michelin-starred restaurants in France and England.
